Bring on the Rain

I am climbing out of my sickness daze, still battling the phlegm, but I'm actually upright today. That's a huge improvement. And it couldn't have come at a better time, since I had to teach today. Ah, but there is a wrinkle. Zachary woke up crying this morning. He NEVER wakes up crying (kind of like I never get sick). He was quite congested and couldn't breathe well. Oh joy.

He was a little clingy this morning with the sitter, so I cancelled my intermediate class and came home early. I think he's milking it a little, but nonetheless I'm pumping him full of Vitamin C, colloidal silver, et al. I put him down for his nap today and he was fine. We played our favorite game of the moment "mama's zipper." I wear a zippered hoodie regularly and Zachary loves to zip and unzip that hoodie while sitting in my lap. He unzips it and pats my chest and says "mommy's heart." Isn't that the sweetest thing? I don't know where he got that from, but I love it. So now he's napping peacefully, but before he fell asleep he asked if we could go outside after his nap. So now it's pouring down rain, along with a few lightning strikes and rolling thunder. I'm not sure how I'm going to pull this off. Only two more days until Daddy comes home, thank God.

Melanie- I sure hope little Z is feeling better and that you are back on your feet. Good grief, is there a law that we MUST get sick every single time our husbands leave town? IS THERE?

Sending you wellness thoughts and prayers.

    Hugs,
    Michele

I hope Z is feeling better...and you too! How awesome that your Mom is available for you like that - she's a sweetheart! I still have a little package for her and you to send...I'm horrible and will get it off soon!

    Many hugs,
    Sandra

I feel that you are on a deserted island you've been gone so long. Come back, Gilligan!

Well I guess it's up to me to pinch-hit: Cabaret opened last Friday. Prior to that rehearsals were running 10 hours a day. That was on top of belly dance classes and yoga. Zachary has been left in Ryan's care, and has since learned to play with matches, cuss like a sailor, and pull girl's pony tails. It's all really so sad...

Thank you Ryan! Thank you for taking in the poor motherless child. We won't hold it against you! You're a good man, Charlie Brown.

That wasn't Ryan, it was me, Unka Kur. He does look a lot like Charlie Brown though...

Yesterday we had a lovely sail to Destin harbor. And we didn't even get stuck in the mud when the tide went out like last time. We took the water taxi over to our favorite cajun restaurant. Zachary had chicken strips, but we let him have one crawfish. I was afraid the spices would be too much for him. He got such a surprised look on his face when the red pepper kicked in. I tried sooooo hard not to laugh as I wiped his tongue off.

Today we motored into Pensacola Bay and dropped the hook off of the Naval Air Station. Zachary loves all the airplanes. Tomorrow we'll motor the intracoastal over to Mobile Bay. Zachary will love all the red and green markers along the way.

Sorry I suck so bad for not posting any pictures. I'll try real hard to post some after we drive back home.

It sounds like you are having so much fun! Thank God Uncle Kurt is reporting full time now. I'm not sure if anything he's saying is true. Perhaps, you were actually kidnapped by aliens who chopped your arms off so you can't type. Yeah..yeah...that's the way it happened.

    Call home, E.T. Call home!

Well, we're back from Mobile. Our good friends at Turner Marine hauled Southern Cross out of the water. The bottom of the hull was sooooo nasty. It was covered in algae and goose barnacles and pond scum, It reminded me of Zachary's diaper the time he ate a whole bowl of guacamole by himself!

Michele, sometimes I WISH aliens would kidnap me. It's been so hectic what with the show and the baby and getting ready to go cruising and Zachary and yoga and spring gobbler season and tribal dance. Oh well, I guess I'll sleep when I'm dead!

    Mucho hugs,
    Mel

Since this website has been taken over, I'll give a quick update from Scotland.

I've been in Aberdeen since February 19th waiting on the rig to set the surface pipe so we can drill. I've enjoyed the flu (can the flu be transmitted via blog sites...?), 2 weeks of rain and gusty North Sea winds, endless problems with the rig, the rental car rear-ended, and delightful Scottish cuisine. Cullen Skink soup anyone?

We are finally heading out to the rig today! It's another cold, blustery day but the crocus and daffodils are blooming with the hope of spring. I am traveling with 2 other Marathon employees in our tiny Renault Scenic. The suitcases, safety equipment, and 2 weeks of supplies have put even my masterful packing skills to the test. Envision the Clown Car but with day-glow orange overalls and green rookie hard hats – oh the shame. How I miss the days good ole days when I drove (and slept in) gas guzzling company cars, wore dust covered jeans and boots, and could wear my personalized hard hat covered with a long history of service company stickers, oil smudges, and scrapes.

    d~
