Sleeping with the Lights On
Today I'm at a loss for words.
I am trying a new babysitter at my husband's request. There is this sweet young girl that works in his office that they had to let go because they didn't have enough work for her to do. Oh, and she's GREAT with kids. Here we go. So she shows up yesterday with little skull earrings with bows on them, and oh yeah, she has a lip ring. Ok, I don't want to judge, and she seems nice enough. She listened earnestly to my instructions and, most importantly, Zachary likes her. I can deal with most anyone as long as my child is well cared for.
So today she comes back, and I go to teach my classes. The day apparently went well, I called to tell her I was on my way home and she said he was sleeping. She said he didn't eat much, but then backtracked her story a bit. I attributed it to nervousness. I also noticed she hadn't turned on the monitor and mentioned it to her. She nervously replied she didn't know about it, and she was right, I hadn't mentioned it. However, every other sitter I've ever had has either asked about the monitor or figured it out themselves. Ok, so it's 2:30, and Zachary normally wakes up at 3:00. She leaves, and I turn on the monitor and hear he's jumping in his bed. I groan, because I still had some things I needed to do before I got him. It quickly becomes obvious that he's fully awake so I go upstairs to get him. When I get there I discover she's left the lights blazing brightly in Zachary's room. She didn't turn off the lights! No wonder he wasn't asleep, and it appears he didn't go to sleep at all. It's the craziest thing I've ever seen. How could anyone put a child down for a nap with the lights on???

Are you SERIOUS? (Okay I've done that more than once to poor Austin) I would be watching her like a hawk the next few times because she might be dropping ACID before she comes to work. My excuse is that I'm trying to put three more down and I'm scatterbrained. (although maybe I should try some acid for clarity)
